I have this DVD that I want to back up and I have a feeling that it's R0. I first used DVD Decrypter to rip it and it was all fine and dandy except for one VOB at the very end, 99%, it gives me some sort of I/O error:

    I/O Error!
    Device: [1:0:0]SONY DVD RW DW-U18A UYS1 (Q
    ScsiStatus: 0x02
    Interpretation: Check Condition
    CDB: 28 00 00 08 11 85 00 00 01 00
    Interpretation: Read (10) - Sector: 528773
    Sense Area: 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 11 00 00 00 00
    Interpretation: Uncovered Read Error

I've clicked "Retry" and "Ignore" but same error. I also tried ejecting the DVD and putting it in again but same. So then I tried DVD Shrink and clicked "Open Disc" to read directly from the DVD drive. At 27% Analysing, it gives me this error:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
    Failed to read file "Q:\"
    Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Please note that when I'm writing my own DVDs, it doesn't have this error. So why now? And it's always the R0 or R3 discs from the east area.

the disc is probably scratched or smudged. try using another dvdrom or dvd writer. you could try using white toothpaste on the scratches as some members have used. make sure you're using the latest DVD DECRYPTER.

White toothpaste? Won't that damage the disc?

according to other members it takes the scratches away but you have to use the white toothpaste that doesn't have any speckles in it.

Is it a pressed (commercial) DVD, or a backup? On backups, read errors at the outer edge is pretty common. They may play fine, but are hard, to the point of impossible, to backup again.

I find that an error at > 95% usually indicates fingerprints on the very outer edge of the disc. Wipe the outer 5mm or so ever so gently with a soft cloth then try again. Alternatively, you could try a different DVD-ROM drive, or even a different ripping program (such as smartripper).
    If in doubt, Google it.
