  1. From reading these forums, it seems the little $50 DVD MovieFactory is the software of choice for us home users making DVD-R's out of VHS or DV sources. However, it's editing features are quite limited.

Does anyone know if the new MediaStudio Pro 6.5 includes all the features of DVD MovieFactory?

I know it seems silly to think that a company's $500 program would not include all the features of its $50 program, but since MovieFactory is newer, maybe it doesn't?

    Anyone?

  2. And better yet, how does either of the above programs compare to Vegas Video 3.0?

I'm looking for the one killer app....

Media Studio Pro and Vegas are for capturing / editing only

DVD Movie Facotory is for authoring and burning. That's about all I know, but there should be your guidelines and divisions between their function.

As far as Editing, Vegas Video is the best app

    Hope this helped...

  4. I use M2-Edit Pro to cut MPEG2 files now because you don't have to reencode when making the cut. Works great. Do you know if Vegas Video 3.0 has that same functionality?

MSP (depends on version) includes the DVD plugin. Which is what DVD Movie Factory is.

  6. The authoring in the DVD Plug-in included with MSP6.5 is not the same as DVD MovieFactory. The primary differences are DVDMF includes: Two tier chapter menu, any frame in a clip can be selected for the menu thumbnail, background music for the menus.

  7. I just downloaded Ulead DVD Moviefactory.

What a piece of crap. No functions other than what they lead you to through the wizard. It messed up all the entry points in a VCD I wanted to try out. No thanks.

I'll stick with Videopack 4 for VCD's. I just need to find a good DVD program now.

How does M2 Edit Pro handle the audio track at the splice? Do you get sound 'blip' if the audio is not quiet at the splice?

From what I have read the best, or at least one of the best, DVD authoring programs is Scenarist but you won't like the price.
