  1. I'm just curious about the Boris FX LTD plugin that ships with the new version of Vegas+DVD. It claims it's a professional grade chroma keyer, and motion stabilizer. Personally I'm tired of exporting clips to use the VirtrualDub motion reducing plugin, then reimporting to Vegas. I've also been looking at other software for some potential greenscreen work. I'm pretty much already decided on upgrading to Vegas 6, but here's my questions anyway, to help me make a final descision:

    1) How good is the keyer? Anyone used it with some poor green/blue screen footage and how did it perform?

    2) How good is the motion stabilizer? How does it compare to the VirtualDub plugin?

    3) How easy/hard are these two plugins to use/get good results?

    1) I haven't upgraded to v6 yet but expect keyer composite to be similar to Premiere and FCP.
If you are a pro user, skip up to Ultimatte AdvantEdge for green screen. At least understand it as a standard of comparison.

At NAB, the Ultimatte guy told me that analog cameras (e.g. Hi-8, Betacam SP or analog out from a DV cam) work better than DV 4:1:1 for live foreground but DV makes a great background. Their new software contains filters to smooth 4:1:1 and 4:2:0 for forground use as a non-realtime process.

  3. Okay, thanks for the info. But my questions still stand. Anyone?
