i have a few dvds that are very large ie 5+ hours. What is the quickest and easiest way to get these to dvd? It takes forever to split it all up with decrypter. I am probably doing it all wrong though.
Also, what is a good freeware program that can easily cut off stuff i dont want from the video? I had videoredo, but it expired

Try DVDShrink. Its preveiw screen makes it easy to see exactly what you want to keep or cut out. And its freeware.

The other point is, if your dvd's are 5+ hours, then you have a lot of video compression and the quality will be lousy. You will still have the same bad quality if you split the dvd up. Consider doing it from the original source with less video compression.

I have dvd shrink, but on a 5 hour+ dvd it wont fit it all in. So i need to find an easy way to cut the discs into sections.
I was thinking of using shrink to get to my hard drive then another program to cut up into 2, 3 or 4 sections.
    But which program?
    Is video redo the best?
I really need something that is very simple.

  4. Use DVDShrink in reauthor mode. Or try VobBlanker to split the DVD.

I assumed your 5+ dvd's were dvdr's, is that the case ? Either way, You can still do it with shrink. Cut the dvd into whatever sections you want using the "start frame" - "end frame" feature. You can compress the sections further with shrink if need be. You need to familiarise yourself well with Shrink though by reading the guides.

No, the dvds are original dvds i have bought. Does that matter at all?
Ok, ill try shrink.....i am only familiar with ful disc backup and re author mode to make dvds of several smaller clips.
What is the best guide to learn how to use the start frame feature? i dont even know where abouts that is in shrink.
    Thanks to all for helping
