I've had mine since February . I really wanted an external dvd burner to share photos with my family because lots of players can't read VCDs,(I use Ulead's dvd Picture Show2) but felt I would get more use from the ilo.
Still determined to buy a dvd burner, I decided to see if I could get the same results from the ilo.
I made a slideshow with cool transitions, titles & credits using Windows Movie Maker. I also took some footage from home videos, added a few special effects, sent it back to my JVC camcorder, then connected the cam to the ilo via firewire cable & let her rip....
    The results:
    -Awesome sound quality!!
    -Awesome video quality!!
-Playable in every DVD burner I tried!!
Darnit!!! That darn ilo!!! Now I can't justify getting an external dvd burner!

not bad for 140 bucks eh? I'll be transferring my aunts wedding shes going to have onto dvd using the ilo, it cleans up my vhs tapes when recording to SP and HQ so I'm hoping it will clean up her wedding as well. For slideshows I just like putting jpegs onto a data disc, you know you can do that right? It wont have music or cool transitions though

Discussion of nearly every aspect of the R04 and HD04.
Also the ILO's do PAL to NTSC conversion.
With the hacked firmware removing macrovision (among other things) and the hidden region menu they are very nice pieces of hardware.

It's not actually conversion. It's just quasi-signals. Framerates are untouched. But the LITEON units (and these ILO clones) do an excellent job of PAL playback on the NTSC units.
