I tried putting as many home videos as I could using the TMPGENC DVD Author until it almost turned red in the area where it says "Capacity of the created DVD" 4.7 GB, however why when I use the DVD writing tool, does it show less of the amount that filled? For example it almost shows 4.7 GB in the bar, but 4.1 GB in the DVD writing tool processing area.

Can anyone let me know if I could add more videos then? After burning a DVD I looked underneath and there seemed to be more space enough to fit like 1 more video. It'll mean that the "Capacity of created DVD" area would go past the green over to red bar. Is that ok?

    Any comments?

tmpgenc dvd author always complains when you get close to the limit.. i've had it complain when i fed it 4.21gb of files.. its menu vobs ( & ifos/bups) were less than 1mb.. i sitll had about 150mb to play with..

i usually try to get my audio & video files i'm going to use with TDA between 4.30 & 4.34gb.. that leaves enough room for menu's (non-motion) and TDA's other minimal space requirements.

    Thanks for your help lumis.

Another question is: I looked through all the settings in TMPGEnc DVD Author, but I can't find where once I select a video in the Track list, it would just play that video. What happens is when I select 1 video out of the track lists, it doesn't stop when the video ends, it just continues right onto the next video. Is there anyway to not do this. I looked through the settings, and tried selecting

Display Track menu in the Action to take after each track has been played. Didn't work.

    Thanks!

This might be caused by the confusion between decimal GB (1e9 bytes) and "true" GB (1024*1024*1024 bytes). If TMPGenc DVD Author reports 4.7 GB, it's counting decimal gigabytes. A DVD max capacity is close to 4.7e9 bytes, which is about 4.3 true GB (4.3*1024*1024*1024 bytes).
Now, why you get only 4.1 instead of something closer to 4.3, I have no idea...
