From what I've read in the forum, not many dvd players support MP3 on DVD. You might want to try this instead.

My Sony $300 dvd player sez it'll read mp3's, vcd's, svcd's and several other formats, but all it'll read are commercial video dvd's, and video dvd's I've burnt. Nuttin else.

Pioneers are typically fairly compatible. I'd suggest trying a different format. If u used +R, try -R, or vice versa. You sed u have a dvd-r burner, but created a +r disc. So yer info is a little cornfusing.

Sorry guys i should have been more clear. The dvd burner can do both dvd+ and dvd-. The pioneer dvd player can read mp3's on a cd-r, svcd,dvd-audio, sacd, and movies both done on dvd-r or dvd+r. I have read alot of posts and tried many things but there must be a pioneer owner out there that have made a dvd with mp3's on it.

    Thanks

What they are trying to say is:
ALL of us can dump a SH|TLOAD of MP3 files to either a + or - DVDR....it is just data. The problem is there are VERY FEW DVD players that can play MP3's FROM A DVD. Every time a player list MP3's as "able to play"....it means from a CD-R....NOT a DVD-/+R.
    Sorry.

    Hello mate.
I have created an MP3 disc with 1000 songs on it that plays on my Pioneer dv464 no problem, it also plays on Pioneer dv360 and on my mates pioneer 454.
So i would think pioneer are ok with these type of discs, BUT it was a while back and i CANT remember the exact method i used.

I think i did it like ths :-
I used nero 6 and selected DVD ROM (UDF/ISO) then i added all the tracks individualy. Burned and played.

BUT PLEASE TRY WITH A DVDRW BECAUSE I AM NOT 100% SURE

This has got me curious now....im gonna do another on a LONGTEN001...( I have a $hit load of these left) and see if its the right way for you. I am pretty sure this is the method though.

Hope i have helped a little.

Bricktop thanks for the reply!! What are your settings? I usualy just hightlight the whole dir and move it over then burn. Should i try one at a time? I also use nero. Another pioneer 45a guy out there says he has no probs reading the dvd-mp3 in his player. Starting to think it is my system some how . Might be time for a format and reinstall

    Thanks

Ok tim_mc and everyone who might be interested
I just burned another MP3DVD and it worked a dream. :P
Heres how i did it :-

    RECORDER = Pioneer DVR105
    DVD Player = Pioneer DV464
    MEDIA = LONGTEN001 4x DVD-R (The worst media i have ever used)
Burned with Nero 6 at 2x

Open main Nero program and choose DVD ROM (UDF/ISO) from the new compilation window on the left.

    Settings are nero defaults
    No Multisession
Iso restrictions - Allow path depth of more than 8 directories
    Allow moe than 225 characters

Then highlight all tracks individually and add to complilation until your disc is full OR 999 tracks are selected (I think this is the maximum capacity we can use)

    Then burn....easy peasy.

Also did a mixture of MP3 and WMA files and it took them in its stride no probs whatsoever.

Also may be able to add folders to the disc but never tried...might do that one time in the future.

    Hope you are succesful.

Oh also i would try -R instead of +R...see if that helps compatability.

Use Nero Express and no need to worry about the settings
tompika mate the first ever disc i tried i used nero express but it was not recognised by the player.
Then i tried in DVDROM(UDF/ISO) and it worked.

Just my experiences with it mate....might have been a bad disc or a bad burn.

Hi guys i just redid my system and no luck . I checked the settings on my dv 45a even. i wonder if my version of nero is bad. I tried to burn it both ways but no luck. Calling pioneer canada to see if they can help or explain why the elite 45a doesn't.

    Thanks

I just saw your comment on the pioneer 45A machine on the dvd players section. Man im sorry it did not work for you.
But keep those discs and try to find a mate with another pioneer and test the discs again.
Or better still go to a good electronics dealer and ask them to test the discs in their pioneer players.
I have tested these discs on the following
    Pioneer DV464 Plays
    Pioneer DV360 Plays
    Kiiro 838 Dont play
Kiiro X5 and X8 Dont play
You might be able to upgrade if you want the feature badly enough??
    Good luck bro.....

Bricktop thanks once again!! I am going to take it over to my friends house he just got the top elite dvd player dv 59ai. It would be sweet to have 4.7 gigs of mp3s on a disc but if not oh well. looks like i am stuck to cd-rs. I am waiting to here back from another 45a owner who has done it
I noticed that when i view the info of the dvd after it burns it shows as one track. Maybe i shold try another make of dvd-r discs. I use memorex 4x now.

    Thanks again

When i put my burned DVDMP3 disc in my pc drive and i open the folder it just lists all the tracks on the disc...are you getting a similar list? you mention it lists as a single track.
What happens when you put it in the dvd player? do you get error messages? or does it sound like its trying to read the disc.
I ask this because it takes a little longer for the dvdmp3 discs to load when compared to a regular dvd video.
Man i really want to crack this one...i hope we can somehow.

Bricktop when i read it on the pc it is fine i get all the songs.
When i put it in the dvd player on the stereo it tries to read it but says can't be read then the display says DVD. When i look at disc info in nereo it says it is one track. It says that on all discs even the cd-rw ones.
My manual says that it should be iso9660 mode2. I can only pick mode 1 for everything. The mode 1 is always greyed out for whrn i try to burn a dvd and so is the finalize. Hope this helps us abit. I won't stop till i figure it out ~. Can i convert the mp3 too mp2 in a easyway then see if it reads them?

    Thanks

  19. Hi.... The DVD mp3 does work with nero, but it is player dependant. I have 3 dvd players that are mp3 compatible (sony, rowa, koss). The only one the dvd works on is the el cheepo koss player. It is very cool that it is possible to put an entire music library onto one dvd,(800+ songs). I think as we progress into the future , more players will support the DVD mp3 feature.

I just wanted to share my experience......

Okay I tried to do this before I came to work today, and I got an error message from Nero saying it was an Illegal disc... WTF?

    I was using a Memorex -R, do I need to use a +R instead?

  21. I have a Pioneer DV-563A and when I make a mp3 dvd it see's it as a jpeg disc and only shows the album covers that WMP sticks in there when connected to the internet. I did UDF/ISO format in nero.

AS mentioned before, you need a player that will play MP3 DVDs in order to just burn them as data. If this is not possible for you, try the guideshere and here. What they do is actually make a DVD compliant MPEG out of a still image with bugger all bitrate so that most of the bitrate is taken up by the music. THis will play just like a normal DVD Video and just display the still image you choose the whole time while playing the audio. They are not exactly the same as a MP3 DVD but they are as close as you will get.
    If in doubt, Google it.
