  1. I have a DVD Player connected to a STEREO System. MY Sony Widescreen T.V has Virtual Dolby& also plays DTS. When using a PCM 48khz, Dolby 5.1 or DTS Disc & playing the sound through my Stereo System as well as my TV which of the following settings would give me the best sound:-

    PCM
    Dolby Digital 2 Surround Sound
    Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound
    DTS

Is there anyway to use the Hi Fi as 2 channels & the TV as a further 2?

For just stereo? I would say go with PCM. Really, though, if you are only using stereo on your TV, you don't really have a choice as your DVD player (if connected through the standard RCA jacks), will only output stereo.

  3. Using Stereo RCS Jacks to HI-Fi. Use Scart to connect DVD to TV. What about Virtual Dolby? If I want Virtual Dolby from my TV & or Hi-fi speakers, should I set Virtual Dolby on both TV & DVD or what? Should they both be set for Virtual Dolby or one to stereo & one to Virtual Dolbyor one to DTS etc. I want to know what should be set for playing the following, ie. TV & DVD Ausio Settings for:-

    DTS
    Dolby Digital 3
    Dolby digital 5.1
    PCM

Since you are using the stereo out on your DVD player, don't worry about it's settings per say.

Do you want just pure stereo? Than don't use your TV, as those speakers are pretty close together and don't get you the best ability. If you have a stereo speaker system that you can hook up to all of this, use that instead.

And for virtual dolby (dialog enhancer and the sort), only use it on one piece of equipment. If you have dialog enhancer turned on the DVD player, then don't do it on the TV as well. So if you use virtual dolby on the TV, don't do the same on the DVD player. Make sense?

For all the different types of audio you listed, just use whatever sounds the best to YOU, you'll be fine.
