I am trying to convert some RM files I have to DVD or anything that I can work with to make them DVD's.

I have tried RM Converter, when I use it video is very fast in the finish product. I have also tried selecting the Real Media Plugin & the only thing it does is act as if it is starting & then I get Failed under Status. I do have Real Player V 10 installed.

I have also tried WinAVI Video Converter, When I attempt a conversion... I get this message:
Can not render to graph, please make sure that your media file can be played by Windows Media Player.

Well RM files cannot be played by WMP. So please tell me how to reslove this. I am seriously considering buying this product if I can get it to convert this format for me. Thanks

For dshow playback you need Gabest's real media filter along with real's codecs. I believe a lot of apps have trouble converting the audio though.

    also install helix codecs
    http://www.lillevold.com/files/yuvcodecs-1.2.exe
Drag and drop your rm/rmvb file on the real7ime window-configure options-convert to avi with uncompressed audio-video codec of your choice (xvid, divx,PICVideo, Huff). Do what you want with it afterwards.

Those codecs are just for YV12/i420. Quite usefull, however not for real media decoding.

Ok I emailed WinAVI Video Converter's tech support (not very helpful... a joke).

They told me I need to get Windows Media Player to play RM files. Well everywhere I look, it tells me it aint happening. I tell the tech support this & they tell me... go to videohelp.com to see how to do this.

Well, after sending them an email about their crappy tech support I do come here & still I can't get RM files to play in WMP. Am I missing something??? I would really like for this program to work, it would be so much easier to go from RM to DVD.

Keep in mind i have dloaded & installed the following:
    Real Alternative
    Gabest RealMedia Splitter filter
    TzimLiteCodecPack_20050329

heck I even tried installing Real Media Playuer & no go.

Simplest way to convert RM to MPG? Try EO Video. Results look good.

Real files play fine here and I have never installed real alternative. I already said what is needed.

Seriously though the easiest lowest impact way to play real media files is mplayer with the real dll's in the codecs dir. mencoder can also convert, although being command line based it is not an option for everyone.
