Old episodes better. Got the DVDs. Watch them instead of the episodes on TV.

  6. Their writing's remained consistently good during their entire run. I don't know how they do it, but they do. I can't think of another show that's done it so well for so long....

  10. Earlier episodes were better but it's still the best thing on the box.

I would like to take this opportunity to gather all my previous quotes about my opinion of the new Simpsons.

    Dr.Gee wrote:
    Last Night-

Homer-That's it Bart! Youre grounded for a year!
    Bart-Nah,I'll just pay the fine.
    Homer-ok.3 bucks.

Same episode-Homer jamming to the Spice Girlz
Reminds me of why I don't watch the show anymore.
My feelings exactly. That kind of humor (unbelievable, unrealistic) is good in tiny doses. But around the 8th, 9th or 10th season seasons, the Simpsons starting shifting to this kind of humor. For example, Homer saying butter your bacon to bart and bart saying my heart hurts and Homer looking very angry and saying do it. Har har har. Stupid idea. Completely unrealistic and a betrayel of the characters and emotions of the characters. Feels like a dumb gag and that is all.

Of course, this 15th season has sunk to a new low. All the humor is now along the lines of characters acting very unusually and the viewer is supposed to be like what the hell. Worst decline of a show ever.
Wow. And the show is at its lowest point right now too. Declined to nothing it did. Those voice actors are pretty talented though. Better they get it then those new awful writers, especially that Ian Maxtone Graham who probably is to blame for ruining the show (producer now).
I think I can say with some certainty that I am a HUGE Simpsons fan. I grew up watching it in syndication two times a day every day. I have seen the "classic" episodes at least a half a dozen times each (on TV not DVD or computer) with some of my favorite "classic" episodes even more so. I stopped watching new episodes regularly a few years ago for some reason (I continued watching it in syndication) and only starting watching every Sunday this 15th season. Like I have stated many times before, this 15th season is the worst season of the Simpsons by far and indicates the worst decline of a TV show in history. This prompted me to do some research and figure out where the decline happened. After reading some articles and looking at countless episode guides etc, I realized it was the 11th season that the show took a huge dive. Since then some of the episodes have been better than others but the Simpsons as a show has never recovered.

However there is a long series of PERFECT seasons with each episode being funny and clever. Season 1 and most of season 2 are pretty standard family sitcom with an animated twist, in other words, seasons 1 and 2 sucked. Then season three came along and the classic simpsons were born. Having season 3 on DVD, I can tell you that that season is perfect.

Seasons 3-8 were pretty much perfect seasons that were all funny in their own ways. I am not crazy about the Lisa episodes (especially about vegetarianism) but I still like watching them.
Seasons 9-10 when Mike Scully took over were still alright despite what some people might say. But perfection was lost.
Season 11> has a handful of "ok" episodes. Generally however, the writing was awful, the jokes were obnoxious not funny, the plots were slapped together by people so confident of their shows success that they pulled stuff ouf of their ass, and the characters of the show were ruined as well.

Season 15 hit a new low. The episodes in this season have one or two good jokes in them. Everything else is painful to watch especially for a Simpsons fan like me who rememebers the golden years.

I am very passionate about this subject and can babble on about this forever so if anyone has any questions, ask away.
THE SIMPSONS have gone from being the BEST show on TV to being the WORST. Yes, I kid you not. I am a very big (old) Simpsons fan and like many I have watched all the episodes a million times in syndication. The Simpsons took a terrible turn for the worse in the 11th season and never recovered. This year's 15th season was so uncharacteristic, so plotless, so unfunny etc etc that it makes me sick. This year's Simpsons may be on par with many other unfunny idiotic sitcoms or boring yet vomit inducing reality shows but the sheer decline and destruction of every aspect of the show is enough to make it the worst.
So tell us how you really feel, right?

Since making these posts back in May, I have watched my collection of Simpsons episodes from seasons 3-10 several times over and watched seasons 1 and 2 on TV and episodes from the post 10th seasons on TV as well. I think I can safely say that I watch more old Simpsons than just about anybody. I have gotten some new conclusions. Season 5 was probably the funniest followed by 6, 4, 3, and 7. Season 8 is overrated and not as funny as the previous ones. The first two seasons are much better than I have them credit for and have some very charming bits. The first two seasons were necessary as the "straight" seasons that set up the characters to the Simpsons later wackiness. Finally, the infamous decline was already visible in the 7th season and maybe even in an episode or two of the 6th. Oh, and the post 10th seasons still suck very badly. It is hard for me to watch those without cringing. Some of those episodes go by without one laugh, And the digital animation is ugly.

Big SImpson's fan here. I was taping them ever since they've been on TV. I think I still have a few Ulman tapes with them on it. The artwork is a bit different, but it's awesome regardless. Anyone know if the Actor's strike is over and if they are making anymore episodes? They barely get paid what many voice actors get paid for cartoons, and they have a top TV show. The ReRuns even make it high on the ratings.

There was a newer one. THere's been like 3. Of course my main point is, are they making new episodes?

    Edit - Found it: http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,14016,00.html

Damn! Why don't you people tell me these things? I don't pay attention to anything but the shows themselves. It's not like I watch the news or commercials or anything.

There's always jokes about Lenny having a liking for Carl. And Carl being self-liking.

NO. There were not always jokes about them liking each other, or whatever it is. This is a very recent and very unfunny phenomenon that the new writers... or should I say wrongers have made up. HAHA, did you see that, I'm good, I should write for the NEW Simpsons too!

I miss Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz. Gill isn't anywhere near the same, but has made a fairly decent replacement for Lionel Hutz. I winder if they are going to do a replacement for Troy McClure.
