  1. I'm using the trial version now and all of my video I shot with my camera's 16:9 mode is looking squished and there are black bars on the left and right.

I already know this is normal on 4:3 displays (like the one PowerDirector is using).

My question is: does PowerDirector output the 16:9 video to DVD in such a way that DVD players set to 4:3 and hooked up to a 4:3 tv will display it correctly with black bars on the top and bottm and will players set to 16:9 and connected to 16:9 widescreen displays show the video correctly, i.e. fills the entire screen without distortion?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I've tried Google, CyberLink's web site and PDF User Guide (and the Software itself) and can find nothing regarding 16:9, anamorphic or aspect ratio for that matter.

Everything else about the product I like. I wouldn't mind editing my video stretched and distorted and long as I know that once I burn them to DVD (can't with trial version) that they will be displayed correctly.

I don't like how I can't contact CyberLink to ask a simple question like this one without having to sign up for membership.

  2. Well I tried but failed with 16:9 using PowerDirector. I've trialed and eventually purchased Ulead's VideoStudio 9. It expressly support 16:9 and I have been able to burn a DVD-Video successfully and it was correctly flag anamorphic: displayed correctly using 4:3 and 16:9 televisions.
