  1. The nifty clips of video games supporting Microsoft's new Xbox 360 console are running on Apple machines, Microsoft confirmed on Friday.

"We purchased a number of Apple G5's because very specific hardware components of the G5 allow developers to emulate some of the technology behind future Xbox products and services," a Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement. "This is an interim development tool that will be replaced with a more powerful and comprehensive solution later."

  5. "So how long before someone figures out how to run Mac OS X 10.4 on it?

You are in breach of the forum rules and are being banned. Macs suck.

Years ago I ran Mac OS in an Amiga 500, so anything is possible.

I was able to run the MAC on my Atari. Then I would emulate a PC. Was cool. It most definetly can be done.

That sounds almost like a joke.

I emulated MAC OS on my Xbox 360, which ran Virtual PC to run Windows XP, so I could run a Super Nintendo emulator.

I don't know if anyone will try getting MAC OS to run on the Xbox 360, but it is kinda sad to see the lengths marketing-types will go to.

I just looked at some E3 photos at
    http://www.anandtech.com/tradeshows/showdoc.aspx?i=2420&p=5

And it is sad to see how the M$ marketeers tried to make people believe the game demos were running on the new console - which must make some people think the 360 is a dog. What were they thinking? Why are they that desperate to have demos running?

the mac g5 can emulate the xbox360 to allow it to develop games (same as was xbox development was on G4)

it does not say mac g5 software developed on xbox360

wrong way around, the mac is emulating the xbox

What OS runs the Xbox 360?
The Xbox 360 was unveiled two weeks ago amid much brouhaha over its custom-designed IBM PowerPC-based CPU--but nothing was said about its operating system. WindowsForDevices.com

Sorry for no link, but somewhere I read it explained like this:

The original XBox was based off of 2000, but was stripped/spliced/cut to maximize gaming performance. So overall it only somewhat resembled 2000.

The XBox360 started with the original XBox and was stripped/spliced/cut to maximize use with the 360. So if you want to say that it is "loosely" based off of 2000, you'd be somewhat correct. Basically it has it's own XBox360 OS.
