I noticed some people were having problems with The Incredibles and audio sync. It goes out slightly after the opening credit and ends up a minute off by the end. It can really be a problem while converting to Divx.
While this is not copy protection, it's annoying. It comes from the the video file playing (or not playing) alternate language versions of text on the screen. The first occurs after "The Incredibles" flashes on the screen, it also has "Los Incredibles" in the vob. Another is where Mr Incredible is looking up the dead superheros on the computer. Depending on what you are using, it can cause problems with encoding.

What I want to know is why are people going to divx for? Personally I prefer the dvd format. To me its just taking up more of your time.

I agree with dvdguy. It takes 2 hours to convert a 45 minute TV episode to DIVX and it only takes 7 minutes to convert the same episode to DVD. I begin to wonder why I bought a DIVX compatilbe DVD player,at least it plays minDVD. DIVX quality is great compared to VCD or SVCD but not compared to DVD. With DVD burners under $50 I wonder where DIVX's future is,I guess in downloading illegal movies!

Yes folks, it's time to get with it and forget DIVX / VCD and the like. Though I used to go that route in the past, it no longer makes any sense . As was stated, DVD burners are dirt cheap and so is media. Even the good stuff. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from learning all available methods if that what you wish to do. It's just that DVD to DVD backups are so darn easy this day it really isn't logical to go with anything but DVD. The time you will same alone is worth the cost of the burner and the media.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -
On another tack for this topic...
The audio on The Incredibles is just plain OFF on the entire disc, regardless of whether you change it to DIVX or not. It's quite irritating, and it's off uniformly by about a tenth of a second - JUST enough to be noticeable. It's also off on Boundin', and Jak Jak Attack, so it's DEFINITELY a mastering problem and not a subtitle or language problem.
I find it quite irksome. I love The Incredibles, but the DVD has pissed me off. -

Divx will always have uses, like wulf said, people downloading illegal movies who just want a 700meg movie to watch an hour later, or someone who gets a cam copy of Revenge of the Sith and wants to encode it for passing out on P2P. -
Be careful of what you say in the forums. You're talking about a movie thats not gonna be out on dvd til nov and they dont take it lightly here about copyrighted material on this site my friend.

"Revenge of the Sith" is what Im talking about. TheFuzzyHulk was taliking about getting a cam version of SITH. Copyrighted and now Highly illegal.
I can wait for the dvd in November -
No he wasn't..
What he said was:
"Divx will always have uses, like wulf said, people downloading illegal movies who just want a 700meg movie to watch an hour later, or someone who gets a cam copy of Revenge of the Sith and wants to encode it for passing out on P2P. "
He wasn't requesting nor advocating anything, was just stating an example of why Divx is still used. -
OK thats cool but the only thing im saying he could get a warning about it.Thats all Im saying . Hey everythings cool with me so we all need to relax and have a cup of coffee

exactly. No need getting paranoid when there is no need to.
mmm...espresso machine is primed & ready. -
Actually, I have used DivX (XviD actually) to backup / convert some of my DVDs. It's absolutely fantastic for anime -- I can put the whole season/series onto one DVD disc at very good quality.
When I watch a series, it's a PITA to change the disc (and then sit through the starting animations / logos / ads) after every three or four 20 minute episodes.
