Do you have a MJPEG codec? Try PicVideo's MJPEG codec.
https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=PICVideo_MJPEG -
nope says there are 3 codecs to process pic video M-jpeg 3 VfW Codec, AVI Draw, MJPEG Decompressor and still does it

Open in virtualduvb and see what it says, if its asking for VFW codecs then your system is using the wrong codec, and i would try to remove the one called MJPEG Decompressor, then hopefully the Picvideo codec will come into work. Another option would be to install Canons software that came with your cam.

VirtualDub has built in MJPEG decoding support. No codecs required. ffdshow can also handle MJPEG (both encoding and decoding via VfW and dshow) and is free.
