i heard that people use certain drives like Benq (that does not need to be hacked) and Nec (does need to be hacked) to make DVD +R more compadible.
Assuming u did bitsetting on DVD+R, and using quality media, does that mean its pretty much 100% compadible on all players?
Also, I see some refurbished nec-2500a more expense than the new nec 3520.....they also have some benq 1620...
what is the best drive for bitsetting.....i know benz u dont have to hack

[EDIT] Since Stiltman's Panasonic won't play it, the answer is..... NO.Pull! Bang! Darn! -
funny I have a panasonic rv30....an oldie but goodie...and it plays +r and -r....but no RW...
well, I stick with -r since all the players dont choke on it. -
The older Panasonic dvd players could not playback DVD+R media unless it was booktyped to DVDROM. For some odd reason the older JVC units were capable of DVD+R media that didn't need booktyped to DVDROM but now the newer models need the booktype to DVDROM. I'm wondering if the reason for that is because PANASONIC bought out JVC. None the less I have a friend who has a PANASONIC dvd player and it can playback DVD+R as long as it is booktyped to DVDROM.
