I am a teacher and I use short segments of movies (approx. 5 minutes) to illustrate points in my classroom. Sometimes I use several movie clips over the course of a morning. I would love to put these segments on to one DVD so I do not constantly have to switch the DVD, wait for it to load, etc.

    So my question is -

Is it possible to do what I want to do with these movies? Will the quality be okay?

We are about to buy a new computer with dual DVD driver/burner. Since our old computer is doing alright we might wait to get a new one if what I want to do with the movies cannot be done. If it is, I am willing to spend some time learning and reading more about video/DVD burning and editing. Thanks.

Actually really simple. Only tools needed is DVDShrink and DVDDecrypter for a quickndirty multititle (up to 99) compilation without menu.

Yep, simple. Rip the sections of the DVDs you require to your hard drive (may be quicker/easier if you use IFO mode and just select the chapter(s) you require), each put in a separate folder on your hard drive. Then open the first DVD (off the hard drive) in DVDShrink, use reauthor mode, drag the title containing the footage you want over to the left, then use the Start/End feature to isolate the exact footage you need. Repeat for each DVD you ripped.

Once you're finished, Click the Backup! button, and DVDShrink will output your DVD to your selected source. This DVD will start playing the first clip once you insert it, and then sequentially play each clip after that. The <Next> and <Previous> buttons on your remote should be able to be used to skip through each DVD clip also.
    If in doubt, Google it.

And if you want an on-screen menu to select which clip you want to play, rip as the previous posters suggest, but then author your clips in something like TDA or one of Ulead's authoring programs.

  5. You can edit the clips directly in TDA and bypass the DVDShrink step. You'd still have to use DVDDecrypter to rip the discs to your HD first. At least you'd get a nice menu with direct access to your clips by making each one a separate track. You'll need the AC3 plug-in, you can get the bundle cheap from eCost
