    Hi,

So what commercials drive you crazy?????

When its voting time here in the states ANY political commercial. They just overload the networks. Next up would be local carpert/mattress store commercials. Just really shoddy and cheap.

Nationally????? The old "WHERE'S THE BEEF" one was pretty bad. Then of course theres the pathetic QUIZNOs commercials of a few years ago. You know the ones where they attack the taste tester to force them to choose quiznos??

Oh and we have these pathetic commercials for the Greektown Casino in Detroit - "LET THE PARTY BEGIN AT GREEKTOWN". With this really pathetic nerdy guy trying to get you to come in. Really annoying too.

So what are your worst commercials?????

    Kevin

Any cinema / movie advertisements ... I swear if I hear the term "Feelgood movie of the year" one more time I'm gonna scream!
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. Nothing is worse than the AOL commerical advertising AOL high speed anti-virus protection - uh oh...a whole lotta spam!!

I also laugh at these, 'cause AOL's protection does nothing to block a lotta spam and anyone can use an anti- virus program - you don't need AOL for that :P

There's a commercial for car insurance in the UK that features that repugnant piece of shit, Michael Winner.

I'll see if I can safely capture it over the weekend without my PC blowing up in rage
    Regards,

"WHERE'S THE BEEF" one was pretty bad.
Wasn't that voiced by Robert Mitchum?

If so, it's a classic and I won't hear anything bad about it, OK? 8)

  11. Robert Mitchum use to say "Beef, It's whats for Dinner". The "Where's the Beef" was a Wendy's commercial. I agree with the AOL (I'm to stupid to backup my pictures) commercials being annoying..

  13. What gets me is the big money they shell out to people that come up with marketing slogans like "I'm loving it", or "Some days are better than others" (Michelob), "When your dentures fit, you can feel it", ad nauseum. I'm definitely in the wrong racket.

Then there are the GM ads using Led Zepplin to advertise Cadillac, or Aerosmith to sell Buick, of all things! Perhaps the ultimate is the Clash song they play in the Pontiac ads. In this case, I don't know if it reflects more unfavorably against the Clash or GM, since the Clash attempted to pass themselves off as being ultra-leftist back in the day. I always suspected it was a bit less than sincere.....

  15. Alka-Seltzer produced a series of commercials in the early 70's that were really good. One of the most memorable was the one where the guy is arguing with his stomach, sitting on chairs....

I once sent a proposal for a commercial to an insurance company. Here's the high-concept.

Osama Bin Laden and Mullah Omar are sitting in a tent in Northern Afghanistan, their hands tied behind their backs, and guarded by Mujahadeen troops loyal to President Karzai. One of the troops comes into the tent and says, "I have some good news."

"You're letting us go, then?" asks Osama.

"No," replies the guard. "The Americans are coming to get you right now."

"Then what's the good news?" asks Mullah Omar.

"I've just saved a load of money on Jeep insurance by switching to GEICO."

    (ahem)

Actually, those "good news" commercials were OK ... but after a while, they did wear on you. Sadly, GEICO has replaced them with commercials that are even more lame ... showing this straight-man with the cartoon gecko, telling people about GEICO's 97% customer satisfaction rating and that he's going across the country to find that elusive 3% to make them satisfied, too.

Jeez ... gimme a break. For most people, the only contact they have with their auto insurance company is when they write their premium check or watch an automatic-debit clear their bank. There's simply nothing to be "satisfied" or "unsatisfied" about ... except perhaps if they feel their premium is too high. But in cases like that, people don't complain to their insurance company, they "shop around" for a replacement. I suspect GEICO knows exactly who comprises that elusive 3% ... people who made claims against GEICO that were handled poorly or caused a jump in premium. In short, the 3% are people GEICO has yet to cancel. I almost wish that straight-man would jump up on a table and shout, "WE DID IT! We achieved 100% customer satisfaction ... by getting rid of that 3% customer base who made problems for us."

geico did have one good commercial. the "tiny house" one.. man, that totally got me the first time i saw it.. and everyone else i saw see it for the first time.

the marriage was built to last, but the house was built too small.. and the part where he tries to get it on with her in the small bed and she's like "are you kidding me!?!".. comic gold..

they should make that in to a 30 minute special.. i'd totally watch.

The new Taco Bell radio commercials are kind of annoying.

Verizon's "Can you hear me now" guy...

and perhaps I take my dislike too far but...

That commercial coupled with the poor reception and dropped calls led me to switch from Verizon to Cingular.

So yea MFer, I can hear you now...I have Cingular.

Any commercial on TV is annoying as they do interrupt so much when I am trying to watch a movie or show.

I don't watch much TV due to that reason, ads.

Too many ads as no good on the TV program as it can be made to be as unwatchable to view.

I'd rather watch a DVD or on the computer.
I am a computer and movie addict

  30. I don't know if you get these in the US, but lately there's cheeze commercials, made up all sexy, with the slogan, "Gouda pour homme, gouda pour femme..." at the end.
They look like expensive perfume commercials, grainy, and high contrast...
