  1. i have ripped a dvd to my HD and used dvd dhrink to reduce the file size but the file is still too big even after removing unwanted audio etc....can i reduce the file size further at this point so that it will fit on a disc?

  2. Yes you can, but you are reducing the quality each time. I'm curious as to why it didn't work with Shrink the first time. It's default setting is to compress to fit.
How big did it end up? Some burning programs can say it's too big even though it's not. I know TMPGEnc DVD Author will complain if the size is over 4438MB, but you can go a little higher than that. If it's around 4460MB it should burn just fine.

  3. i think it is only slightly bigger......it gives me the message that the file is too big and that the number of sectors to copy is greater than the number of sectors on my blank disc....if i ignore this an error message comes up which i think i can ignore and burn anyway......will it work??

  4. You can set the max file size in DVDshrink. Just go into "preferences" and change the default file size from 4460MB to something like 4400MB. This will also prevent burns near the edge of a DVDR thus avoiding any possible skips at the end during playback.

  5. In my experience with DVD Shrink, it's never wrong. I have used it many times, and the default setting is to cram it into 4464MB which should burn just fine.
Right click the folder and check properties. If the files total to 4,680,892,416 bytes or less, it will fit. As long as your discs are good, burning to the edge shouldn't be a problem IMO. At least I've never experienced any issues.

Are you actually compressing it with Shrink, or just removing bits ? Sometimes, on very large disks, Shrink can't meet the target on the first pass. If this happens, either Shrink again, or use DVD Rebuilder instead and start from scratch.

To shrink twice, just let it output to your hard drive (Hard Disk Folders), then feed those folders back into DVDShrink, and output to wherever you wish it to go after that.
    If in doubt, Google it.
