I'm looking for a laptop with a 12" (or smaller) screen, capable of displaying 1400x1050 (or higher) resolution. The only one I've found so far is the Toshiba M200, but you can't get an optical drive with it, AFAIK. So that's the third requirement - an internal cd/dvd-rom.

Edit: actually, I'd settle for a resolution of 1280x1024. 1400x1050 just seems more common among the laptops that I've looked at.

12" screen showing 1400x1050? you mean internally, or thru the VGA port?

that sounds incredibly high rez for the size, and i imagine you'd have your nose quite close to it - 1280x1024 on a 19" LCD is already quite fine pitch.

i thought most 12" displays were on the order of 800x600 - 1024x768?

Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!

    Here's a link to hi-res laptops. http://www.bizrate.com/buy/refine__att--59,att59--more,cat_id--462.html

I think most all of them use a 15" screen to get to that resolution.

This one from NEC is pretty high res, though still 15"

Yeah, it is a high resolution for a small screen, but I was able to find one that did it (the M200), so I was hoping there was more, since that one doesn't have an optical drive (****!! It'd be exactly what I'm looking for if it did!).

I hate the small amount of room you get to work with using 1024x768 or lower, so I'm not considering anything that won't do at least 1280x768 (widescreen) or 1280x1024. Hopefully in a few months there will be a couple more options... I'm not really in any hurry.
