    I have been stuggling with this all day and I'm not any further. How can I convert an mpeg1 file to an avi and how can I convert an wmv file to an avi file? On eproblem I have is that most of the guides involve using virtualdub. For whatever reason, virtual dub will not work anymore. It used to work perfectly and now whenever I load a file and click on 'compression' under video, it crashes. Is there a way to convert without using this program or is there a way to fix this error. I tried all sorts of different versions and they all do the same. Please help, thanks

    Virtualdub would be my tool of choice for this. version 1.3c was the last version to offer WMV/ASF support, so this would be a good start.

    As for your issues, I could only suggest deleting the install directory off your hard drive and reinstalling it.
