Older films that were originaly recorded in mono , does it make any sense to capture in 2 ch, or just capture as a single audio track ?? I know DVD supports mono and at lower bit rates making slightly more room for video,
Any thoughts, Thanks in advance for any feedback

No, capture as a single track. You can then use sound software to simply duplicate the mono track and then filter to create a "simulated stereo" track. This can improve older films when played back through modern home theatre equipment.
I go further and attempt to recreate 5.1 surround but I'm nuts and most mono movies made into stereo will work find in surround under Dolby Pro Logic II.
..Or you can keep the mono track. For DVD the space savings are not that much just for a mono track.
