  3. dbpoweramp. It does batch conversions as well, all you have to do is select multiple files and right click and encode them all at once.

    All you need is lame.exe.
    Something like:
    for %%f in (*.wav) DO (lame.exe "%%f" "%%~nf.mp3")

  9. Celtic's batch example is a pretty neat. OR using Lame encoder with RazorLame as GUI will also do the job.

Another vote for dbpoweramp, lots of plug ins and it's free.

Donwload the lame codec or radium (some people may have serious remarks about that since radium is another version of fraunhofer). Both are excellent mp3 codecs. Download also razor lame to use it as front-end for the codec. Configure your codec to compress the wavs to mp3 the way you want (128, 160, 192, 256, 320 kbps), list your wavs for batching (as sanjayk has said). That's all (you'll need to tag your mp3s later). If you have Sound Forge then it's gonna be much easier. Sound Forge uses a fraunhofer plug-in (you have to buy a separate license for it).

Here are nice places to download LAME:

Radium (v. 1.263 released june 26, 1999 - hey, please don't laugh; do you have someting better and newer???) - let's see if the link works...
