Not sure if I've got the right forum,
I'm still kind of new at this. So, if I
got the wrong place, please pardon
me.
I picked up a movie and after I opened
it using WinRAR, I ended up with an avi
file format. I opened the movie in WMP
and started to play it.
The movie is completely upside down.
I thought the movie started out like
that, but I fast-forwarded to the end
and it was still upside down.
I assume in either the conversion or
the ripping stage something happened.
Is there a workaround to get it right
side up?
TIA
Turk

hello
I had the same problem, but I'm not sure how to help you. I installed the new divx codec 4.11. The 4.11 codec also contains "theplaya". A program like WMP to play avi files. When I played the file with the playa it wasn't upside down anymore. I think there is another way to fix that, but i don't remember, sorry. -
The other way is to load your .avi file into Virtual Dub and then goto Video->Filters and there is a filter you can apply to flip the video. Then click OK in the Filters box and goto File->Save AVI and then you're new avi file should be perfect!
I only dream in black & white...

Open the AVI file in Virtual Dub and scroll through it a bit. If it is upsidedown in Virtual Dub, then most likely the video itself is upside down. If so, use the "flip vertically" filter to correct the problem and save the AVI.
If it isn't upsidedown in Virtual Dub, then there isn't a problem with the video itself. It's most likely a problem with one of the DirectShow filters associated with Windows Media Player, or the codec being used to decode the video. If so, reinstall the codec and see if that corrects the problem. -
Thanks guys, I'm going to give it a try right away.

Well NOSoopForU
You hit the nail on the head. Opening the movie in VirtualDUB showed everything being OK. So, I took your advise, uninstalled the codecs, and installed them again. Worked like a charm.
Thanks very much!
