  1. Are there any high-end DVD recorders that - similar the Pioneer - have adjustable input capabilities (brightness, contrast, hue, color, etc.), offer decent recording quality, AND are able to write to DVD+RW?

    I really like the "All Write" capabilities of the LiteOn 5005, however I find the recording quality (loss of detail) unacceptable, not to mention a few of its other quirks.

    If not available now, does anyone know of new models about to be released with the above features? Thanks *tac7

    Why do you want DVD+RW?

    I have several recorders, and have to say I hate them all equally, in terms of DVD+RW, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM. Watching RW/RAM media is a drag, only good for temp disc before ripping to PC to edit.

    I tend to use DVD-RW most, because of my JVC.

    I like popping them into other DVD players without having to finalize them.

    Since you have a lot of experience with different DVD recorders, are you aware of any newer models coming out with better specs or features?
    I certainly don't care about spending premium dollars at this point for a better brand after wasting my time with the cheap, problem-riddled unit I have right now.

    It's actually a very conservative wish list:

    * DVD+/-R and +/-RW writing capabilities,
    * Input controls for basic hue, brightness, contrast adjustments,
    * Variable control for noise reduction (since the recorders' own fixed adjustments tend to over- ***compensate, and giving the copies a "washed-out" look),
    * TBC for stabilized VCR recording.

    I was about to say the same, although I don't know what kind of contrast/hue/sharpness/noise reduction/etc. adjustments it has.
