  1. has anyone noticed this or figured it out?:

when rendering a motion menu in dvdlab pro, I can get everything to work fine..e.g. motion background, motion in the menus, etc...renders fine and then project compiles fine.

however, as the last step of rendering, dvdlab takes the mpeg it created and replaces the existing menu with that..however, for the static text on the menu, somehow, that text is being rendered into the motion menu itself, eventhough it's not indicated anywhere on the render dialogue. So, as a result, when the static menu is replaced by motion, my text and buttons get darker and have a doubled drop shadow (e.g. once as objects themselves and once in the motion mpeg). For simple text, I can delete the individual object and the one which remains is in my motion mpeg - no big deal.

but, for those which are buttons, etc., it's a little bit more tricky..I suppose I could leave an invisible hotspot and delete the static menu button, but even easier would be if dvd lab didn't include the static objects when it rendered the menu in the first place.

I thought there was a way to control this but I don't see it..does anyone know?

    TIA

  2. If it didn't include the static buttons, they wouldn't be there to see.
Turn off shadowing, or turn off mapping colours (as I don't really understand the problem you're having, maybe post a screenshot?)

  3. yes - will post a before / after ...

the problem is that the non-animated objects on the sceen (text for example) are being encoded into the motion background, so that when the motion background is updated after the dvd lab pro render, some of the objects are effectively 'doubled'. For example, the shadow on static text gets added to the background but is also still there on the text itself, so the shadow becomes twice as dark as it was. If I delete the static object, the effect is as intended, but because the text is now part of the background (which I'd like to avoid in the first place).

I thought that in a version of regular dvd lab, I saw the static objects in a list in the render dialogue, and could unselect them. But I don't see that in the pro version, or perhaps I am remembering it wrong. In any case, I 'm not sure why the static objects are being incorported into the mpeg which dvd lab is creating for my menu (esp. since I have the option of unselecting some of the moving items, I should have the same for the static items).

DVD Lab will put anything that is not a linked menu itme into the background. It has to do this because during playback you have the background and subpictures only on the screen. The subpictures are for menus. If you don't want them rendered (and I don't understand why this is a problem for you), you have to link them to something
