Some crappy divx players don't support divx/xvid on dvd media.

But you can try different dvd media and try burn one divx or xvid (use rewritable to test) and different dvd modes(ISO, UDF).

  3. If the avi`s are XVID try using mpeg4modifier.
load the avi and tick "unpack" which is under packed bitstream.

  4. The files you downloaded may have been encoded with GMC or QPEL which many Divx/DVD players don't support.

The audio may not be compatible with your Divx/DVD player.

The audio bitrate may be too low for your player (for some reason many players won't play low bitrate mp3 audio).

Be sure to finalize your DVDs. Many players won't properly play disks that haven't been finalized.

  5. Are there some problems with the DVD players when they play AVI with a MP3 VBR? My DVD player can play DivX, but it can play MP3 and with VBR it doesn't have good performances.
