I just purchased a Regent DVD-1000 which is the same as the Lenoxx DVD-1000. As soon as I started to use it, I recognised how the volume and other things looked the same as the OFFA firmware on my Norcent 300 which is the hacked Sampo firmware - and as it turns out Sampo is owned by Regent.

Sampo is disappearing as a brand name, but the firmware which has proved to be spread all over a lot of other brands and I'm guessing the Regent DVD-1000 is probably one of them.

So does anyone know if Sampo made a top loading player or what possible Sampo firmware might be able to be loaded onto the Regent/Lenoxx DVD 1000?

Here's a link to what the player looks like:

    I've taken some screen shots:

    it's $39 Canadian at Walmart.

It's not IDE. It's whatever the micro thin ribbon type is called.
Unfortunately I can't see the chipset - the board is covered with a metal shield and I don't have a dremmel. I guess I will have to get one then see what's in it. I've tried a few bios display codes but no luck.

Do you recognise the interface as any particular version of Sampo firmware?
