  1. Is this a good program to use. I'm using Roxios Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum and haven't turned out a coaster yet?
I read in a previous post that this version of nero is not compatible w/ burning vcds.
I'm about to load this nero so if it's no good, someone please tell me before I load it.
    Thanks.

Nero is good for VCD's, I wouldn't recommend it for encoding. I would use TMPGen for any encoding.

Who wrote that Nero 5.5XXX won't make VCD disks?
Do they know how to read and write?

I updated to this version from 5540 and I had a few problems

When making VCD's and Audio CD's from Mp3's it would say it had failed at the end. If I tried to use the disc it worked though?

In the end I went back to 5540 and everything seems to work now. I have a Mitsumi drive by the way.

I have tried almost every version of nero and there are probems with 5.5.x.x. with some standalones - tested to version 5.5.4.x
I have eventually went back to 5.0.xx cause the problem is not with this version (but it's own bugs are not great)
Most VCD's (not every time - usually dvd ripped with dvd2mpgsqueezer and divx conversions)I have burned with the later versions play about 2 seconds and then there is a slight pause and then play another 2 seconds and then pause etc etc.
This only happens on my wharfdale standalone not on my other german built one or on pcs. But when doing vcd's I don't want people to say my rips/vcds don't work.
It is a very annoying problem but I am not alone in this see other posts on this forum. Also with the newer versions of nero it takes longer to transfer the file from the right hand pane to the left because it checks every but of the file for compatability.
The mpeg2 encoder is a waste of time - quick but results are poor.
I am currently downloading the upgrade for version 5.5.6.4 so I can test whether the problem is addressed - there is no mention of it on aheads site re bugs.

  7. I haven't unzipped the file yet so I don't have the actual program on my system yet.
I'll search for an older version.
Hey pinoy 2201, do you have a quicker way to ask you questions and to get responses from you?
So look like you're very knowledgeable when it comes to ripping/burning.
    thanks
