I thought that you could record more than one program to DVD RW without erasing previous recording. Like if you wanted to record the show 24 each week on the same disk without erasing previous recordings.
I was told that you could only do this with DVD Ram disk which are much more expensive than DVD RW disks.

Thanks, but I didn't really see the answer to my question about the difference of what you can and can't do between the two when recording TV programs.

As the definition stated there, you can think of dvd ram as a removable hard disk but is not compatible with most players. If it is compatible with your player, this is what you need

Can you record multiple programs on a RW without erasing or writing over previous recordings?
-
After a some research it appears that a DVD-RW can have multiple recordings over a period of time and will not erase previous recordings as long as the DVD has sufficient space or room while A DVD+RW reformats automatically each time you record, therefore erasing or writing reformating over the previous recording.
