  1. Here is the problem somebody gave me a home movie on a DVD+R. I need a make a copy of this disc, but OSX 10.2.8 does not recognize data or video written on DVD+R. I have toast 6.0.9 and a external Plextor 708-UF burner. I have tried using the copy function on Toast but it says that the disk is blank. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

What mac do you have. Sounds like the drive itself doesn't ready +R. If so not much you can do about it except change the drive (if its a powermac that is)

My G5 does not natively support +R but the drive does so it reads them and Toast can burn them. My old iMac? Only if it was betset to a DVD-ROM when burned otherwise it will never read it.

nope, with that drive your stuc , and can only read -R.
Better to go pick up a blank -R, and take it to your friend
and see if he can copy it for you to -R.
    Otherwise,
just have him re-rip it, and give you the video-TS folders
either on an external USB drive, or if he has an
    ethernet hub,
then you *MIGHT* be able to file share them to your laptop.

I think that Drive SHOULD support it. Have you tested this disk on your DVD player to make sure its good?

  6. I want to thank all the people who helped me. I got a friend to bit-set the DVD+R and then it worked fine using my external burner and toast. I went to copy the DVD and it read like a DVD-ROM. Thanks again for the help.
