My plan is to convert over 100 2HR VCR tapes to DVD's. I elected to undertake this since I thought the DVD media generally lasted forever and I wanted to give a set of these to each of my two children as they now leave home. The first movies are almost 20yrs old.
I have a SONY RDR-VX500 VCR/DVD Recorder and have purchased 100 ESA DVD+R discs on which to record. I record in the HQ mode and get slightly over 1hr of tape on each DVD. So I use 2DVDs per VCR.
For storage I elected to use a DVD notebook style for easy (vertical) storage. I thought that each disc in its pocket, if the notebook was vertical, would not be subjected to warping forces and be easy to access.
I was planning on placing each disc in a d-skin to protect it when going in/out of the album and during usage. I would label the non-playing side of the DVD's with a permanent Sharpie marker.
Now, since researching this forum I have some concerns:
1) At this time, what would be the finest, most lasting DVD media to use, assuming my Circuit City EAS is not the best?
2) Is my plan for storing, labeling and d-skinning a good one?

The ESA is likely manufactured by CMC Magnetics. The quality is debatable. I would recommend a DVD-R disc produced by Taiyo Yuden. The 8x Fuji spindles that are made in japan are TY. Maxell 8X DVD-R that is made in japan is also excellent media.
