    Hi, whenever i view video on my pc, either vobs, avi's, mpegs, using either windows media or powerdvd, the playback stutters.....

    i've tried re-installing my video card software, but it has not cured the problem..

    any idea's ?????

    installed any codec packs lately?
    installed ffdshow? and using some filter?

    try play with vlc media player...does it work ?

    seems i've had this problem since my last windows xp install, i havnt got ffdshow installed (should i ??) i've installed vlc player, and its still stuttering..... not all the time, intermittently.....

    if it stutters with vlc it is probably not a codec problem.

    installed latest directx? latest video drivers?

    yes, got the latest video drivers for my card, nvidea geforce 5200, and just installed the lastest version of directx, have not reboot, but still occaisional stutter......

    Here are some things to check!
    Run AD_Ware or Spybot to remove any spy ware that maybe running.
    Scan the computer for viruses.
    When doing any kind of video work make sure that all other tasks are closed(ex IE, WORD, games)
    Make sure that your video card is not sharing an Interupt.
    Make sure that your HD is running in DMA and not PIO mode.
    Run a memory test program such as MEMTEST.
    Defrag your HD.

    my graphics card is sharing an interupt with my raid card.....

    have not run the memory test..... dont have a clue how to change the interupt, my bios is set to auto this, i can set to manual, but cant see interupt 19 listed, in bios of course.....

    This will only be a problem if you have a RAID system.
    Procede to check the other items.
