I just bought a sony DVD writer and it came with the nero suite of products. There is a bunch of information in the write up around backing up DVDs stating I can do it if they are "not copy protected". Does this mean I won't be able to backup any of my store bought movies using only Nero? Or should I be able to back them up no problem without other software?

  2. No it just means that you will need to find a way around the copy protection. If you use a tool called dvd decrypter to copy the copyprotected dvd to your hard drive you can then use Nero to compress it and burn it back to a dvdr disc.

DVD Decrypter for ripping to hard drive.
DVD Shrink to compress to 4.37GB.
    Nero to burn.

DUDE, just think about it for a minute. Do you really think that a commecial money making company like Nero will outright tell you how to copy a protected DVD. They would be sued as fast as you can bilnk. THey HAVE to state that it is only for Non Protected DVDs.

Download DVDShink ( Free ) Set ip up to burn the resulting DVD files with Nero and your drive ( Drive letter ) That's all you really need. Read Read nad then Read some more. There are a ton of guides that will teach you all you need to know about DVD Shrink as well as DVD Decrypter. Look to the left.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  5. But if he owns Nero Recode he should use that because its quality is far superior to DVDshrink.
