Major n00b to digital video editing, basically for fun, family videos, snow trips and a few friends' weddings.

Have finally progressed from Premiere 6.0 to Premiere Pro and found everything I like and more except for one thing.

In Premiere 6.0 i twas easy to change transparency in line A using the red 'rubber bands' to help with fade transitions.

I may not be looking hard enough but I cannot find that in Pro. It used to be so quick and easy to simply create a fade transition by dragging the opacity band from 100 back to 0.

Can anyone help? Is Pro designed to work differently on this front?

    Appreciate any help.

    Just as easy (perhaps easier).

    Two options:
    1)
Hit page up, or page down to get to the clips beginning or end.
Click Ctrl/D together, and it will create the default transition..In which case i believe it's a simple fade. Double check in the "Video Transitions" pallete. Go to the flyout of this pallete, and create any default transition you want.
If this isn't working, you probably haven't checked that the correct track number has been selected.

    2)
Go to the "Video Transitions" and drag 'n' drop to the location.

Definately check out www.wrigleyvideo.com to get a feel for what Premiere Pro can do..

    Good luck!!

Thanks for your help - I will give it a bash!

I never really viewed that process in 6.0 as a transition as it is more a manually interweaving of footage with controlled opacity, as opposed to the automatic transitions.

    Thanks again.
