Does all dvd recorders (in the same price range) have the same recording quality or there are some noticeable differences ?

No. Panasonic, Sony and Philips have "more expensive" units, but that does not translate into higher quality. In fact, some of the lower priced units often have better quality than expensive ones.

Someone should do a comparison of the top models on the market, using various settings (XP, SP, LP, FR) and post some screenshots from virtualdubmod. If this were pinned to the top of the forum, it would be a great way for folks diving into the DVd recorder world to get an idea what to expect.
Just for the record, I think the new Sony RDX900 or some such model number (cant quite remember), records the best overall picture I've seen. It also costs upwards of $800 or more. Therefore I dont own one
