  1. However much I try I can't get my VCR to play DVDs. I tried fitting a disc into the slot, it went in ok but when I press the play button, nothing happens. Whats worse is that now when I press the eject button, nothing happens. I put a few more discs in thinking that it might be a media problem, but still i cant get them to play. I have now got about 12 discs in my VCR and they won't eject. When i shake the machine I can hear them rattleing around, so im sure they aren't jammed. The model of my VCR is a LirpaLoof VC9005...

it's the labels that are causing the problems.....you need to put them on the shiny side of the disc.

if you put a peanut butter and jelly samich in the vcr it might lube it enough to get the disks out. my 3 year old nephew swears by this method.

If you find that the VCR is truly no longer usable, it has one last use in store for you...

Turn it on and then poor a jug of water over it - amazing fireworks show...

Everyone says that the LirpaLoof gives the best quality but many people have the "loading" problem with these machines ... you are not alone!

Return that POS and get yourself a PanaLoofOnic ... trouble free operation and the built-in VBC (Vibration Bionic Corrector) is the best!

Also be sure to use DVD-R discs that have say MADE IN HELL as they seem to burn the best.

Your problem can easily be corrected by doing a search to the left. Also you could try rebooting the VCR to see if the DVDs will eject. Stand to one side of the machine just to be on the safe side. Mine did this once and I had to use spackle to cover the holes in the wall. In order to get a clean reboot, place your cat or dog on top of the TV first, then unplug the machine using your left hand. If you follow these instructions your problem will be solved. Good Luck!

A VCR is a Video Cassette Recorder for playing or recording Video Cassettes not DVDs. Get a DVD Player. Everyone else has been giving you some pretty bad advice. Sometimes I wonder if anyone on these forums knows anything!

That grainy picture sure does a good job of covering up your lobotomy scars.

Hmmm. the old Lirpaloof 9005 error. I recall a technote on this, in the Knowledge Base over at Microsoft. Let me see if i can find it... ("Google is my friend. Google is my friend.")

Bingo! I got it. Reference Microsoft tech note 4.1.2005, from their Knowledge Base. I quote: "Lirpaloof DVD players will fail to function if any media is utilized which is not ISO/AFU/APRIL1/IDE/F00LS/ATA ENHANCED." This is a media problem, as usual.

The tech note goes on to explain that you only insert up to 11 of these bad discs, after that, the machine should not be shaken under any circumstances. "Any shaking will cause an electrical discharge from the on-board power supply, such discharge may change the IRE settings, or cause a shortness of pants, or a severe case of artifical edge enhancement. The only cure for this is death." Microsoft suggests a workaround, though: "It is possible to upgrade to the latest Windows Security Patch, or you can alternately upgrade your Lirpaloof unit to firmware 4.1.4.1.4.1 Revision B Codename April Beta Version 1st."

Under no circumstances, though, should you do both. That would be in direct violation of the DMCA, and may have REALLY serious repercussions.

I hope this helps (I am off to check my calendar),

Obviously, this is why you should be using DVD+R, not MINUS R.

Reason being, with the +R's, you can use the "+VHS" bitsetting.

Also, you may want to try playing your media on an 8track player first, as I find these players have a much higher resolution, and even work with newer formats, like beta, and 3.5" floppies.

If all else fails, you can take it back to walmart in a wrong box, and they'll exchange it for a newer, better, laser disc player.

If all this fails, please send the player, with $185 enclosed, to..

Quite the pessimist aren't we? Don't tell me you actually fell for that old saleman trap. I can't believe you were actually talked into buying a DVD player, most of us are still using our VCRs for our DVDs just fine.

I should have known those old 5 1/4 floppy drives were the same size as DVDs for a reason. Do they play on Apple floppy drives too, or just PC drives? I've got an old Apple somewhere...

Trade it in on a toaster instead. Mine plays the disks fine, and is great for LOTR because I can put boths disks in at the same time, and watch them back to back. They do tend to get pretty hot while playing though - maybe there isn't enough airflow in the cabinet ?

Well, that's your problem right there -- the VC9005 has been superceded by the VC9005000010100001.1, which uses the VC+R standard.

But fear not, there's a workaround -- on your remote, press the "Enter" button, followed by the pound sign, then "343," then backspace, up-arrow, "Eject," and "2." This will take you to the firmware submenu, and in the line where it says "Click4CheepViagra$$$", enter your credit card number.

    It's all about the media.
The best media for your system, is the Princo DVDs. Prefer the + variation

Also, try a firmware upgrade for your LirpaLoof VC9005. I read about a hacked one, that also activates some hidden fuctions of your LirpaLoof, like xvid / divx playback and ogg audio long filenames

Do a google search also about a third party software called "EmuLirpaLoof". It makes your LirpaLoof VC9005 emulate playstation 2 & Xbox at the same time!

To get those discs out of your VCR you have to romance them out. Friends over at this automotive site I frequent told me that the LirpaLoof VC9005 is much like a woman in the fact that you can't jam things in the front door and immediately expect fireworks (great picture, great sound, a decently made sandwich, quiet time in the bathroom, lights turned off after she has left a room, doors closed, car filled with gas when you go to drive it so you don't have to get gas every freakin' time you want to take a short drive to the neighbors house who is only 4 blocks away, but you can't because there is no gas in the car and that annoying light keeps coming on telling you that you are low on gas AGAIN! Just because SOMEONE can't put gas in the damn car and has not iota of remorse whenever you run out of gas in the middle of nowhere and you can't find your cell phone to call for help because SOMEONE (who will remain nameless) decided that her cell phone was about to go dead and that yours didn't look like it needed charged for at least another two days so she took it...now your stuck in the middle of ******* nowhere, in the rain, at 2:30 in the god damned morning with no cell phone and no hope of finding anyone who can help you by providing a gallon of gas because gas prices have gone up so high no one wants just GIVE their precious gas away... and suddenly your stuck in a Mad Max - Road Warrior Esque world, but there's no Tina Turner here... no wheel of fate... THERE'S NO GOD DAMNED GAS IN THE CAR AND THAT FREAKING YELLOW LIGHT IS FLASHING JUST LIKE SOME LAUGHING CIRCUS CLOWN AND YOU CAN'T GET AWAY NO MATTT...........................

What were we talking about now?

I don't know why any of you bother answering guys like mh2360... The question has been asked and answered at least once a week for the past three years..

Learn to use search, then come and ask your stupid question.

  24. I also had this problem.

This is how I fix the problem. First I install windows XP on to a VHS tape. Then load the VHS tape into the VCR. Now all I had to do was install XP that’s on the VHS tape on to the VCR. After that I had to install Power DVD on to the VHS tape and then again install it into the VCR.

Also you can install DIVX and XVID code with no problem.

Best VCR I have ever used in my life. I hate JVC Panasonic and Sony VCRs. they only play VHS tapes. This is the way to go.
