  1. I'm quite new at this, but wondered if the following would work?

I have some 1280 * 720, 59.94 fps progressive material, that I have been downconverting using CCE to 720 * 480 29.97 NTSC for playback on my DVD player.

This looks pretty good, but the 480 resolution is of course not as good as the PAL 576 lines... I was wondering if it would be possible to convert to 720 * 576, keeping the same 29.97 fps? I can't seem to make CCE do this - any thoughts?

You do mean keeping 29.97fps don't you?

If so, yes it would be possible, but you may have to use avisynth or virtualdub to resize, then frameserve to CCE.

Main problem though is that the result would not be DVD compliant.

  3. Oops - yes, that was a type (edited and corrected now!)

I'm already frameserving to CCE at 720x576 @ 29.97, but when it encodes it crops the frame and produces a 720x480 image. No idea why - any thoughts?

However, you mention it wouldn't be DVD complient - would the DVD player refuse to play it? In which case, there's not much point!

It's hard to say if any given player would refuse to play the disk without actually trying it. Some players are more tolerent that others on non-compliant material.
