  1. Before I start I would like to say that I have no intesion of prirating the dvd in question. I own the original source dvds and the reason I have posed this qustion is because I like to have backup copies of my dvds .. becuase the orginals too often get marked

I have the 12 disc ultimate lord of the rings set.. I came to make my backups and the protection on the discs is like nothing I have ever seen

It crashes dvd shrink after 8%, DVD dcrypter will do it but you get error messages all along the way and then it still crashes dvd shrink when you try that again afterwards

Ive tried Nero re-code again crashes at 8% ..

Just never seen any protection so good, has any one elese ever come across this aswell?
DVD region settings are a joke, I can't believe how stupid people are falling for it

  4. Try the new version of DVD Decrypter. Then use DvdShrink or DVD2one.
DVD2one isnt free though so if you want freeware then use DVDDecrypter and Shrink. It will work so give it a try.

  5. I have only backed up the 6 movie only discs, using decrypter(rip)-shrink(compress)-decrypter(burn), no problems at all. Make sure you are using the most recent version, decrypter is 3.5.4.0, shrink is 3.2.0.15. If it's crashing at 8%, then your dvd is screwed up at that 8% mark or your hard drive may be full. It's not the copy protection, those programs do not choke on this one.

There is no new copy protections. As others say, use latest version of DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink etc.

    Try latest AnyDVD.

I agree with HatcherMan, the disc can be faulty where it crashes at 8%.

  7. The question is does it play on your stand alone player?
Life is like a pothole, you just have to learn to get around it.
