I have tried to use both TMPGEnc and CinemaCraftEncoder generated mpeg2 files for MyDVD 6 and DVDit 5. If the mpeg is CBR, then no re-transcode. But if I feed them with any VBR mpeg files, then both tools re-transcode the mpeg files.
I don't have such problem for MyDVD 4. And DVDit does have its own VBR encoder. Anyone can give me some clue for avoiding re-transcode?
Thanks,
Po-Ting

I would expect they are re-transcoding because the dvd spec is cbr...not vbr. You could stop the transcoding by remuxing the videos yourself to the desired bitrate...or just let the software do it for you. You will get better video quality doing it yourself.
