ok here's the thing, i wanna buy these region 2 dvds of my sentai series, but here's an issue i can't play region 2 dvd disc, yea i kno about hackin my dvd player but i don't want to, but what i thought is, is it possible to rip the region 2 dvd and just burn it to a dvd minus r? i kno the region 2 dvds are like 8 gigs, and i don't wanna get a dual layer dvd disc, i just wanna put them on reg dvd-r discs, is this possible? i heard i have to shrink the region 2 dvd to fit it in a dvd-r? what proggy would u suggest? how much video quality will be lost doin so? or should i just rip the eps from the region 2 and just burn them indivudually on dvd-r's? if i do this i may not be able to put more then 3 or 4 dependin on how big the file size is correct? u guys understand me now? any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks!

I concure, Dvdshrink
And you can see when you use it because you can get rid of extra audio tracks, ect. to make it so you don't have ti use as much compression, but then there is the issue of "can your player play PAL?" assuming that these region 2 disc's are in PAL format, which is a high probability unless from japan.
What kind of standalone dvd player do you have ? have you ever played a PAL format disc on it ?? where are these disc's coming from ? Europe/U.K. or Japan ? Because i see you are also in NTSC land -
thanks everyone for ur answers....i'll look into info on dvdshrink i appreciate it...but i have another new question, i hope u can help with. now i wanna buy these series from japan region 2 dvds, but they have also been released in hk dvd discs and subbed(optional subs as in u can turn them on and off) so since they have been subbed i wanted to know is it possible to take the original region 2 eps off the dvd and take the eng subs from the hk dvd and put them together on a dvd makin it so that the subs are optional? u get what i mean? please respond

yes, if you have the original dvd's that are subbed, use DVD Decrypter to rip (transfer) the dvd to your hard drive, then open the files in DVD Shrink and you can reauthor, which will lose the menus, or do whole disc, which will keep the menu's, choose which audio you want to keep and also any diff. sub's.... alot of times dvd's will have multiple language tracks and sub's so you can keep just the english of both to keep the compression to a minamum.... if the english is the only ones you want

nice, thanks for the fast reply man....i think i owe u the wettest bj u've ever gotten....

if you're not too bothered about extras, you can also use either VOBblanker or TitleSetBlanker to strip out the bonus material. this way, you'll leave more room for movie requiring less compression.

there really aren't any extras on these region 2 dvds, its just eps really.
