  1. I am using Virtual Dub 1.3 to split the audio file into a separate wav file. When I try to load certain avi files, it goes through the asf conversion, but errors out at the very end. It says it doesn't have the correct compressor for the WMV2 file format.

What do I need to do to correct this? I've downloaded the new codecs from divx.com. That hasn't helped.

    Thanks.

  2. WMV is a type of ASF but it's not exactly the same thing

VirtualDub 1.3c could handle ASF file but Microsoft asked Avery to remove ASF support from further versions. So VirtualDub reads the ASF type header and re-builds the index but can not handle the new type(s) of ASF (WMV)

you can use dbPowerAmp to extract a wav file from a WMV file - see the Tools link to find dbPowerAmp and then grab the WMV codec add-on so it can handle WMV files

  3. How do I encode files with the WMV2 format? I tried TMGPEnc 2.02 with no luck.

    Thanks
