I'm confused here. When you say "unstable picture, sort of trembling" is that for the preview during cature? What about playing the avi after capture? Are you dropping any frames? With the exception of dropped frames, a DV to PC capture via firewire is really a copy and not a capture. Maybe the problem is a display problem with your video card and / or drivers and not with the captured avi?

Does device manager show any conflicts between your firewire card and video card?

    Thanks for your answer.
Yes, "unstable picture, sort of trembling" is when previewing during cature. When I playback the avi it's the same.
I have the problem in Premiere, in Nero in winDV and in Movie maker 2 (No dropping any frames in any).
I'm checking into the display of the video card. I have Intel 915gav Avalon with built in video chip (gma900).
In the old computer I had ATI Radeon. One would expect that the Intel's will be ok. (the radeon is more than 3 years old...)
in the Device manager there is no conflicts between the firewire card and video card.

Do you have any avi files that you captured on your old computer that you could transfer to CD or DVD and play on your new one? If these tremble then your problem is definetly your video card or drivers.

One other thing you might try is downloading and installing the latest drivers for your video card.

Downloaded and installed the latest drivers but there was no change.
I will try to find old avi and check them. (meanwhile I'm trying to borrow another video card to see if it helps...)
    will let you know.
    Thanks
