Don't think you can, but there are many other tools that do. You're not stating why you want to join them, but VirtualDub is the free tool for AVI editing.

  3. You can try the AVI/MPEG/WMV joiner from boilsoft. However, if you want to re-encode both AVIs to one MPEG you can use Nero Vision Express.

But there are better options like TMPGEnc and VirtualDubMod.

Yes, he has a movie in 2 parts in AVI format that he wants to join. But maybe poolieoyster might enlighten us as to what he really wants in the end?

  10. Use VirtualDub as mats suggested. You can find the "Append AVI Segment" option in the "File..." menu. Set both Video and Audio to "Direct Stream Copy" and off you go.

  11. You should be able to join (or combine) two separate titles right in Nero Vision Express, because I think I have done the same thing. First, you add the two titles to your project. Make sure they are in the correct order (you can drag/drop if you need to rearrange them). Then select both of them by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking them each once with your left mouse button. When they are both highlighted, I believe you will have the option to combine the titles (I don't have it open in front of me but just hover your mouse over the various icon buttons on the screen and one of them is to combine titles...probably can also access this function through the Menu bar).

When they are combined into one title, you can then either burn it to DVD or Export it to a file. I'm not at my machine so I can't remember if it allows you to save in .avi format.

Well... what is the end PRODUCT you want?

If you just want to watch both of them in a row without interruption, you can just... drag them both over to Media Player and when one finishes the other will begin.

Or you can join them in VirtualDub.

Are you going to put them on a DVD as AVI? Or convert them to DVD format?

Help us out here. We've all been nice thus far and NOT made disparaging comments about the "1of2" and "2of2" and pirated movies...

    Well then: Don't join.
Encode each AVI to a DVD specs mpeg. (TMPGEnc)
Author these 2 mpegs as 2 parts of the same title. (TDA)
    Done.

Once again - NO NEED to join. Just encode separately to DVD compliant MPEG2 and author in TDA or DVDLab or any other of your liking.
