I recently bought from a tape trader several DVD's of concerts..I need to get these on my hard drive as mpgs and have successfully done this in the past with commercial DVD's...So I initially did a rip with Smart Ripper and later with Decrypter...with the same results..(see attached gif of what the rip displays )...
However there are inacuracies that I cannot understand..IE It seems the complete DVD is not ripped.
When I play the DVD there are two concerts....both of these are complete as I have played them so there is no problem there ..but when I check what has been ripped I find big decrepancies...
EG The First Title is 1 hour 22.20 on the DVD....but the related VOB's (VTS_01_1.vob / VTS_01_2.vob / VTS_01_3.vob) only total 51 minutes 37 sec.....The Second Title is 26 min 23 seconds on the DVD but the ripped VOB (vts_02_1.vob) is only 12 minutes 16 seconds.
I have played the VOB's and this verifies these are incomplete and do not represent what is on the DVD.....
Have I ripped the DVD improperly?...what is happening here....I really need advice on this and would appreciate any comments/assistance...
Thanks Ron New Zealand

Use TMPGEnc DVD Author to convert to MPEG. If you have done this sucessfully in the past what software and procedure did you use? Using DVD Decrypter or Smartripper does not convert your DVD to MPEGs.

Most times when you just play the vobs the correct length isn't shown by the player. They're probably all there.

jdizzy40..thanks for your prompt reply ..I did forget to mention that I had converted to mpg using DVD Super Creator...I can try again using TMPGEnc DVD Author...In the past I had used Smart Ripper and DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc....But getting old I had forgotten the exact process ..but after some reading I tryed this method but DVD2AVI never seemed to load the vob's properly....IE their was no picture after loading and clicking F5......Thats when I tryed DVD Super creator and it seemed to convert the files alright...If I had a guess where the problem is..its in the ripping process and I wonder if I can try ripping again using some of either Smart Ripper or Decrypter inbuilt settings...or another method..
Thanks Ron. -
jdizzy40....Yes ...I have just used TMPGEnc DVD Author and both concerts are in a folder and they are complete...
I will now use TMPGEnc to encode files with my required settings etc....Many Many Thanks for your help...

Back to the drawing board ..There was no audio?...I have now started from scratch ripping with DVD Decrypter and getting a full rip.....I am then using Super DVD Ripper to encode into MPG and because I cannot get it to resize I then use VirtualDub to Resize into 320x240 avi and then re-encode into Mpg using TMPGEnc....HEY There must be an easier way than this...
