dvd not burning dvd's just my ass. i think i have a problem

i'm trying to make back up copies of dvd's using dvd x copy express and the dvd's burn but wont play. it will read and play dvd's it will burn cd's and it will burn pictures. the only thing i did was switch to memorex 8x dvdr- from 4x dvdr-. this shouldn't be a problem so i think my burner is spanked. i reinstalled the software, and no new drivers for the burner. not dual layer dvds either. even tried burning a home movie using pin. stud.8 and won't work. it worked last week though.

Also Memorex media is the pits. Try some other make and see. IAre you saying that the drive will no longer burn DVDs at all? I had one that a minute ago burned a disk 100% successful and the next it went belly up. I could still use it as a CD/RW but not as a DVD/RW. I gave it to my daughter and bought a new one. No more problems. Somtimes they will go without a bit of warning. Just like a light bulb.

Thanks for the help. bought new dual layer 16x dvd burner-got dvd shrink, decrypter,nero now i'm a burnin fool!!! YEEHAWWW!!!
