I am encountering a similar situation. I have ffmpegX 9s and Divx 5.2.1 installed. When I attempt to encode an MPEG file (from Eye TV) the choices I am given include MPEG4 [.AVI] (ffmpeg) and MPEG4 [.AVI] (mencoder), Divx 3 [.AVI] (mencoder and ffmpeg), but not Divx 5/Divx AVI.
I am having a difficult time getting a result with image quality that is of comparable image quality with the original MPEG file that is in a format that will play on the Philips DVP642 which does not actually seem to like anything much other than MPEG-2/"DVDs". Philips tech support has pretty much been useless.
Thanks

Thanks Major. I will see if I can get the other one to work with the Philips player...it has been a major pain.
If the Divx 5.2.1 is not used then I guess I really should not have gotten it in the first place.
