I am new to converting video files to DVD. I have an ATI AIW 9800PRO video capture card. I have downloaded several movies from TV and
they show as .mpg files. I copied one of the movies to DVD, but it did not play on our home DVD player. Which format, software, and DVD media would serve me best so I can play these movies on our home DVD player? Thanks.

First, look to the left at 'What is DVD'. Those are the specs you will need to match.

If you can capture at those specs, at least the size 720 x 480 pixels MPEG2 or 352 x 480 pixels MPEG2 (Which is better for TV captures) you will reduce the amount of work needed considerably.
Framerate is 29.97 fps. The audio is 48000 Hz.

Once you have a DVD compliant video, all you have to do then is author it and burn it. Sounds easy, but there are plenty of guides to step you though the process. <<<<<<<
