  1. this is getting old. Xp SP2, divx 5.21, directx 9c. using VoBsub and virtual dub to add subtitles to a video i have. the pc shuts off mid way through. any help appreciated

  2. just to add, i have 1GB PC2700 and 3000+XP and when its converting the cpu usage is at 100%

  3. If the CPU is running at 100% for that long, it's probably overheating.

  5. i have similar problem with dvdsanta as well..pc shuts down. it did it with dvshrink 3.1 but was fine when i upped it to latest 3.2

    cpu temps stay fairly constant. pc is newly built everything inside is new as well.

  7. That was a hint...go back to SP1. Many have had unreasonable problems with SP2.

  8. yeah..running Memtest-86 right now, and so far so good in the memory dept.
    i slipstreamed my SP1 disc to SP2, so i might wipe the drive and load my SP1 disc tomorrow if nothing pans out tonight. thanks for your help.

  9. ok. went back to SP1, memory checks out fine..PSU was crap so i replaced it. virtualdub uses 100% of cpu when adding subtitles...pc shuts off halfway through conversion...any ideas?

    oh yeah..temps are fine as well

  10. ok fixed the shutdown, turns out with 3 dimm slots and 2 sticks of ram, asus recomends keeping them seperated by the empty slot. as for the freezing and 100% cpu usage, i read online to remove some unused codecs. would that work?
