  1. I just opened a new pack of +r's by Sony (8x)

The media will not work at all, they can not be recognized by my TDK - Plextor 708a drive.
I've previously never had this happen before with "any" disk ever, in the year or so that I had this drive.

I also bought the -r which was on sale also, and that works fine..

Any one else with this problem, the drive just keeps blinking forever when inserted --- (a blank disk that is)..

I'm bringing them back tomorrow anyways..

  2. I had the exact same problem. I thought I was the man when I found this sale for Sony 8X +R media for $19.99. To my dismay all 4 spindles I brought would not work in my burner. I thought it might be my burner but in the end figured out it was the discs. I sent them back and got a full refund hassle-free.

  3. Yea, I went and looked at those while I was at Staples. They were all made in Taiwan as I recall. Those ine the know here say "made in Japan" is what you want.

i'm glad I passed on them now that I hear how you guys fared.

The Sony +R with the Sony media code seems to be hit or miss. They work really well on my Lite-On, but others can't get them to burn at all. They are really burner specific - love 'em or ya don't.

weird that the sony dvd+r media now won't burn in my plextor 708 and benq 1620 drives......a friend gave me a spindle of the sony dvd+r because it wasn't compatible in her home dvd recorder. the first 10 discs burned fine now they burn to 96% then freeze. at first i thought it was my burners so i tested some maxell dvd+r and taiyo yuden dvd+r which burned fine on those 2 burners. as mentioned the sony media is hit or miss. the spindle i have is MADE IN TAIWAN. odd because i've used them before and had no probs. go figure eh!

  6. Yea. I've been in the hobby of DVD burning for a year now and I always used Sony DVD+R without problems until now. Perhaps it was a bad batch. Anyhow I'm looking for other media to use after this bad experience.
