hello
i'm looking for a way in which I can slow down vhs or mini dv playback into a dvd recorder.
I've captured some cine film and the frame rate was quite high. To make it look normal, i'd like to slow it down as it goes into my Pioneer DVD recorder (520H)
I know that i could place it on pc and slow it down via something like pinacle but i'd really prefer to do it with pc involvement since it doubles the process time.
All ideas appreciated!!

Try to be more specifc.
Are you saying you put cinema film on vhs?
Cinema film is 24 fps progressive and vhs is 30fps interlaced. Could this be your problem? -
hi
yes
i've tried to capture cine film (shot between 18 fps and 24 fps) onto my mini dv camcorder. now i need to transfer it to dvd at slower speed (say 10-20% slower -
Try this link: http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/vhs_capture2.html
It helps explain the telecine process and how film ends up on tape. It helped me understand a little better. People start throwing around the words progressive and interlaced and you find yourself getting more confused.
If you use the method you are thinking I'd think you'd end up with an ugly mess of jerky frames with no sync.
What you have to do is transfer your 18-24 fps stuff to a source that is playing back at 30 fps. This invloves a telecine process of which I just startd to learn about. High quality telecine is done by machine. Telecine done by software apparently can give mixed results. If you check out that link it has some good info about cinema transfer. It's not just a divx site. -
I'm curious how you "captured" the "cine film".
